FACULTY ACTIVITIES

Elaine A. King's essay Artists in a New Era was published in a Special Fall issue of Grapheion, a
Czech Republic magazine dedicated to mechnical reproduction art. Her interview with James Turrell is
the cover feature in the November issue of Sculpture.

ALUMNI ACTIVITIES

Michael Caputo (BFA '02) is an art handler in New York City where he has worked for Jeffery Deitch in Brooklyn and Manhattan and for P.S. 1 in Long Island City.

Melissa Collinsworth-Ignatuk (BFA '01) Had a solo exhibit, A Glimpse into the Christian Mind, at the Dadian Gallery at theWesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. August 26 - October 20 with an artist talk on September 12. http://www.wesleysem.edu/CAR/ignatuk.htm

Justin Giunta (BFA '01) is exhibiting with Gavin Benjamin in a two-person show, Flowers, Photographs, and Furniture, at Mendelson Gallery in Pittsburgh through November 23. The opening reception is November 9, 6-9pm.

Melissa Nicolardi (BFA'99) is teaching art at an elementary school in Brooklyn, NY.

Paola Cabal (BFA '98) is completing her MFA degree this coming spring at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Elizabeth Irvine (BFA '98) works as a jewelry specialist for Christie's Auction House in New York City.

Seldon Yuan (BFA '98) continues to paint and has published a volume of poetry, Morning, Afternoon, Evenings, available through amazon.com

Paul Snelson (BFA '96) lives in Irving, Texas and is a graphic designer for Verizon.

Patrick Meagher (BFA '95) is exhibiting in two group shows that opened in November: Building Structures at PS1 MoMA in New York City and Out of Site: Fictional Architectural Spaces at Henry Art Gallery in Seatlle, WA. Building Structures is a group exhibition of local and international artists who re-stage the context and usage of architectural techniques and appropriate its principles. Out of Site is a group exhibition that features fictional architectural spaces and topographies that reflect how digital technology, urban and suburban growth, population sprawl, and cross-cultural experiences have impacted contemporary culture. Lindsey Nicholson (BFA '88) lives with her partner, designer Rob Yaffe (BFA '84) in New York City where she is Director of Photography for Image State, a stock photography company. She relayed that Susan Carolanza (BFA '87) works for Getty, a stock photography company and that Bridget Hoyle (BFA '88) is Art Director for Avanti. She also conveyed that Rick Cunningham (BFA '88) is married to Edie Locke (BFA '88) who live in New Jersey with their daughter, Lily.

Sam Wheeler (BFA '00) shares a studio in Greenpoint, NY with Pete Mandradjieff (BFA '00). He supports his studio life working at Barney's and is planning to go to graduate school.

David Yu (BFA '89) works for Amnesty International in New York City and is planning the 2003 USA Annual General Meeting, to be held in Pittsburgh April 4-6, focusing on human rights strategies.

GRADUATE STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Takahiro Noguchi has received $500 in Graduate Student Small Project Help (GUSH) funds. The award will help fund his MFA thesis project, Dustbin of History, that involves working with Carnegie Mellon janitors. Dustbin of History will be included in the spring 2003 MFA Thesis Exhibit.

Graduate Small Project Help (GUSH) funding has been developed and financed by the Carnegie Mellon Graduate Student Association, in collaboration with the Graduate Programs Office and the Provost's Office. GUSH funding is engineered to help graduate students reach their full potential through the graduate work they do at CMU. These awards, for $500 each, help defray costs incurred in the completion of projects required for thesis and dissertation work.
