| Elaine A. King gave a paper titled Mama, A Cultural Icon: Whistler's Mother at the American Culture Association and Popular Culture Conference in New Orleans on April 17, 2003. Bob Bingham is participating in the Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities conference with two students in Chicago this May 29-30. The students are Ann Wootten (BSA) and Diane Loviglio (BHA) whose SURG project relates to a Green Roof on Hammerschlag Hall. Clayton Merrell received a grant from the Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Red Wing, Minnesota to produce a series of time-lapse panoramic paintings this May. He will also run several workshops with area schools during the residency at the center. Ayanah Moor will begin a summer residency this May at the Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY to produce a series of etchings. |

His 36" diameter wall-hung metal perforated layered plate fabricated from a recycled Stop sign was selected for the Mint Museum of Craft and Design Auction, held in March. Proceeds from this third annual Mint Condition Gala Auction benefit the educational programs at the Mint Museum of Craft and Design located in Charlotte, NC. Christine Blair (BFA '89) is exhibiting with Anne Gant and Susan White in Nature Preserved, Altered, Invented, at The Schuylkill Center in Philadelphia, PA, April 27 - June 30. Marc Fischer (BFA '93) will be exhibiting his complete unedited photo files (about 100 subjects and 4,000 photos) along with an interactive component and a free booklet: Visits to the Picture Collection and a Meeting with Librarian Margarete Gross in Operation: Human Intelligence at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, May 4 - June 14,2003. The exhibit opens May 4, 3-6pm with an artist's talk on June 7 at 3pm. Nicole Repack (BFA '93) a.k.a. Jocelyn Superstar is exhibiting with Isis Rodriguez a.k.a. Little Miss Attitude in Casa Dulce: Artists in Residence at Sanitary Fill Company in San Francisco, CA. The exhibit features artwork created during their residency using recycled materials. Dana Kleinman Pennebaker (BFA '97) received her MFA in painting from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Over the past year, she has had solo shows at the University of New Mexico, the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque, and a large drawing shown at the Albuquerque Museum (2002 juried exhibition). She will be participating in an invitational group exhibition, Reverberations, this August at the Durango Art Center in Durango, CO. Fereshteh Toosi will tour with << projet MOBILIVRE-BOOKMOBILE project >> for 3 weeks in May, making stops in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Maine. Now in its third year, << projet MOBILIVRE-BOOKMOBILE project >> is an annual touring exhibition of artist books, zines, and independent publications. Traveling by way of a vintage Airstream, the BOOKMOBILE visits a variety of venues in Canada and the U.S. including community centers, schools, libraries, festivals and artist-run centers. Fereshteh will join other coordinators traveling with the exhibition to facilitate a series of workshops, artist talks, and educational forums. The project has exposed thousands of visitors to a unique collection of independently produced book works.
